Currently in social studies we are learning about slavery and imperialism, but what is slavery exactly? Slavery is when a person or group of people take a person or other people and physically force them into labour for low pay or none at all, usually people wouldn't feed their "Slaves" at all, they would make them survive and work off of bare minimum, short amounts of sleep and long periods of time doing hard field work. Thirty years of age was classified as a long life expectancy for a Slave back then. Slavery had originated first when the Europeans had invaded Africa, this was an example of imperialism, but what exactly is imperialism? Imperialism is the act of taking control of a country through diplomacy or military force. This meaning that the Europeans when they had first discovered Africa and invaded their country were being imperialistic due to the fact that they had used military force that was way more advanced than what they had to take over their country and colonize it for themselves (also enslaving anybody else that wasn't of the same ethnic background.
